My research interest lies in understanding the patterns of species diversification and phenotypic divergence. To do this I combine a macroevolutionary approach, involving phylogenetic comparative analyses, with studies at a microevolutionary scale. For my PhD thesis I use Neotropical amphibians as a model. Currently I am focusing on analyses of the correlates of the rate of molecular evolution: analyzing the influence of factors such as cladogenesis, population size, ecology and morphology on the rate of nucleotide substitution at neutral and non-neutral sites in Centrolenidae, or glass-frogs. I also plan to analyze the association between rate of molecular substitution with the rate of phenotypic evolution in Centrolenidae and Terrarana.
